Hosted Computing - also known as Cloud Computing - is an innovative approach to IT that can help organisations achieve more flexible and cost effective methods of working.
Traditionally, most companies have run their IT on an in-house file server; with Hosted Computing, some or all of their applications or systems are run on remote servers managed on their behalf. Email and backups are good candidates, but it is now possible to run all systems in this manner and remove the need for in-house infrastructure and resources.
Doing so frees you from geographical constraints: your systems can be accessed securely from just about any computer in the world with an internet connection, including laptops with mobile broadband links. This provides excellent support for remote and home workers, and can enable office costs to be reduced.
